The Ideal Church
by Matthew Allen on October 20th, 2022
What makes the church special is that because of the Spirit’s work inside each believer, Christians become one with God and with each other … as seen in the fruit of sacrificial love, submission to each other, unconditional forgiveness, bearing with one another, patience, compassion, and kindness. What we see in Acts 2.42-47 is an unfolding of the love as it was meant to be inside the church.   Read More

Friday First - Looking at the Glory of the Lord Part 2
by Matthew Allen on October 7th, 2022
Last week we began this series by taking a look at what happens when we look to Christ, keeping our eyes fixed on Him. 2 Corinthians 3.18 says we find clarity. The veil has been removed. We see that God is able and trustworthy for all the issues of life. We also find transformation. As we look at the face of Jesus Christ we begin to become like Him. We move from one level of glory to another … higher and higher … increasingly becoming more like Him. And finally, we discover strength in 2 Corinthians 4.1. We do not give up. The only way to live in a troubled world is to focus on Jesus. This is the only way we’ll be effective as a believer. It is the only way to live victoriously. Friday First - Welcome One Another
by Matthew Allen on August 5th, 2022
Anytime you get a plurality of humans together there is a strong possibility for disagreement to rise. This is why one of the most prevalent teachings of the apostles centered around the need to get along well with each other. This is what is under consideration in our text. Paul is working to solve conflict that arises between the legalistic and liberated believer. Romans 14.1-15.13 is unity in action. Paul charges Christians to welcome each other. They are to build one another up. They are to try to please each other. And finally, they are to rejoice with one another.  Read More
