Friday First - Persistent in Prayer

During January have been spending time in spiritual self examination. As we have asked the question, Am I Rooted, we’ve looked at some probing questions while offering practical solutions to become more effective spiritually.

  • What are my habits?
  • Where are my thoughts?
  • How is my confidence?
  • Who am I following?
  • Am I persistent in prayer?

Show me a deeply rooted, stable, and established Christian, and I’ll show you a person who is persistent in prayer. There is a direct correlation to our prayer life and being a strong Christian. If we are committed to fueling our spiritual growth, we will need to be setting aside time to pray.

This seems like such a challenge anymore. We are all so busy … and prayer can be one of the first things that slip away from us. We need to be intentional about scheduling God in. He is our lifeline. He is our strength. He is our Father. We need to let Him in on our life. Deeply rooted Christians are connected to God.

If you are running on fumes spiritually, this lesson should be very practical for you.

On Sunday we will:
  • Seek to understand what it means to be persistent in prayer.
  • Talk about why we need to pray.
  • Talk about how to pray.

As you prepare for worship, please think about these questions.
  1. What does it mean to persist in prayer?
  2. Is your prayer life currently enriching your relationship with God?
  3. Is your life characterized by a pattern of prayer?
  4. Why do we need to pray?
  5. What does it mean to pray constantly?
