Our Story

After decades of growth and three expansions on its old facility over the course of the 80's, 90's & 10's, Kettering Church of Christ could no longer fit on its Bigger Rd. property. In July 2020 we were blessed to be able to purchase a new place of worship that doubles our seating capacity. Now known collectively as Cornerstone Church of Christ, the Christians that make up this local church are excited to be prepared for spiritual and numerical growth for years to come.

Several of our families go all the way back to the beginning in the early 1960's. Back then, a group of Christians from various congregations across Dayton had begun meeting in the newly formed city of Kettering on the corner of Marshall and Stroop roads. Later, a house was purchased on Woodman and Patricia Drive and while in the process of converting it into a place for worship, new growth resulted it being too small for the future needs of the church. Land was purchased on Bigger road and the facility built there served as our place of worship for fifty-four years (1966-2020).

Since its inception, the Christians that make up this church family have been committed to working in the kingdom. Locally we have impacted our community through preaching as well as various print and online ministries. We have worked hard to encourage our young people in the congregation through Bible classes and other activities that bring them together. And, our shepherds and ministers continually work to provide sound teaching and Biblical counseling for all of the family.

Besides our local work, we have supported evangelists around the United States and all over the world.  Since 1985 our church has been involved with mission work in Colombia and currently support eight evangelists who live throughout that country. Our church family remains committed to helping with the spreading of the gospel in these areas where it can.  

Now comprised of around 100 families who live from Brookville to Waynesville/Lebanon, West Chester to Springfield, and many areas in between, Cornerstone Church of Christ is a diverse and growing group of believers from all sorts of different backgrounds. It doesn't matter if you are a working professional, still in college, or retired, single, married, divorced, or widowed, there is a place for you. It doesn't matter where you've been because the destination is forward. We're all looking ahead to heaven, Philippians 3.12-14.

Our believers are united by a single purpose: glorifying Jesus Christ in His kingdom. We do that through reverent worship; our continuing commitment to local and foreign outreach; and internal spiritual upbuilding and encouragement.
