WHO WE ARE

As shepherds of Cornerstone Church of Christ we want to clearly define our mission. The work we undertake is to glorify God in everything we do and complete His mission, not our own.

"Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood."
Acts 20.28

Soul Winning

Our family is focused on soul-winning. We see the Lord’s church as a rescue station for the soul. Our goal is to bring as many as possible into an intimate relationship with God. Every effort is made toward how we can touch the hearts of others for the cause of Christ. Our pulpit preaching, classes, livestream, webcast, digital footprint, and external studies are focused on this one goal.

Discipleship

We want this to be a place where anyone from any walk of life can find peace and assurance in God’s saving grace and look forward to their ultiamte salvation when this life ends. In our journey together, our aim is to come along side each other in this quest.

Reverence

Our worship assemblies are about reverencing God. It is not about us, it is about God and humbling ourselves before Him. In Leviticus 10, after the death of Nadab and Abihu, God said to Moses, ‘By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy, And before all the people I will be honored.’ When we come into God’s presence in worship, we will honor Him and He willl be treated as holy.

Autonomy

Our local church family is completely autonomous. We provide an environment where all can worship and work together in harmony. Divisions of the past have no place here. We are not interested in any label other than being Christians. When our focus is centered on God rather than ourselves we can be in complete harmony.

Authority

We rely on the authority of the Scriptures. It is our only guide. The principles we use in determining any course of action are based on direct commands or apostolic examples established in Scripture. In matters of judgment the elders will make decisions based on what is best for the overall wellbeing of this family in accordance with biblical princples.

Vision

Our shepherds will provide an annual plan of study for the growth of the body. The goal is to edify all who want to grow in their knowledge of scripture and  provide clarity in dealing with the challenges we face in life.

Excellence

We want to focus on the beauty found in Christ and will strive for excellence in everything we do. Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things, Philippians 4.8.

Unity

As shepherds, we are available anytime to discuss any concerns anyone has, in a cordial and constructive way. We all have our opinions and views on many different topics. The only way we can shine as a light is to put away grumbling and disputes, Philippians 2.14-15. It is OK to disagree on matters of opinion. We cannot allow that to affect our fellowship. We are family. It is vital that we have the care necessary for each other. All efforts must be made to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, Ephesians 4.3.
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away."
– Revelation 21.1-4

Until then the Cornerstone Church of Christ is as close as we can get to that heavenly scene. We will cherish our time together in this fellowship and come along side each other in our walk of faith until that faith becomes sight with our God in heaven. For now, may we daily offer a prayer of thanksgiving for each other and the mission that unites us.
