Friday First: Cutting Out the Secret Sin in Our Lives

Society is paralyzed in the grip of sexual sin. Glamorized on television. Explicitly shown all over the internet. It’s on the screen in your pocket, your tablet, or laptop. The problem shows no hint of slowing down. It’s impacting not just the world, but Christians at every turn. Whether you struggle with this personally or not, it impacts you in ways you don’t eve realize. The costs to society are staggering.

While we know the problem, the message behind today’s lesson is one of hope. God’s word provides hope and deliverance, even if you feel you don’t have it all together yet and things aren’t quite where they need to be. By the power of Jesus, positive and permanent change is possible. God promises to go to work and help you become who He wants you to be.
How do you begin to win the battle? How can you come to live with confidence that the process of sanctification is moving forward in your life? There is a way out. Where there is a will, God is the way.

On Sunday we will talk about:
  • How an unclean conscience should be a huge warning sign that we must heed at all costs.
  • The necessity of winning the battle on the inside.
  • Guarding your past, future, and present thoughts.
  • A five-step process of how to win the battle on the inside.

As you prepare for worship, please think about these questions.
  1. How did God regard Job? How did Job regard himself?
  2. Why must we properly train and listen to our conscience?
  3. Who holds your heart accountable? God and ….?
  4. How have your past sins impacted your thoughts?
  5. How can the Word of God put the brakes on sinning?
