The Kingdom Starts with Mercy

What kind of people get into the Kingdom of God?

You might expect the answer to be “the good ones,” those who are clean, moral, or religious. But on Sunday, we’ll be reminded that the Kingdom doesn't start with personal merit; it starts with God's mercy.

From Titus 3:3-8, we see how each of us, before Christ, was foolish, disobedient, and enslaved to sin. We were not just misguided but spiritually broken. Yet just when we had no defenses left, mercy appeared. God, in His kindness, sent Jesus to rescue us, not because we were righteous, but because He is good.

“Salvation is not a reward for the righteous. It is a rescue for the ruined.”

Through the coming of Jesus and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, we are not only forgiven but also reborn. God washes us, justifies us, and makes us heirs of His eternal Kingdom. The Kingdom is not something we barely sneak into. It is our inheritance, secured by grace and sealed by the Spirit.

As we kick off our July sermon series, The Kingdom Is Everything, we will be reminded that our hope isn’t based on what we’ve done, but on what Christ has done for us. And if you’ve experienced that mercy, you are now called to live it and share it.

The Kingdom is the story of salvation. It’s the foundation of our mission, the hope of our hearts, and the message we proclaim to a weary world.

Join us as we talk about:
  • Remembering what we were
  • What happened with mercy appeared
  • Being an heir of the hope of eternal life

Come worship with us as we continue our series on what it means to live under the reign of King Jesus. Whether you’re seeking hope, searching for truth, or prepared for a fresh start, you’ll find the mercy of Christ waiting for you here.
  1. Why is it important to remember who we were before Christ saved us?
  2. How does Titus 3:4-5 describe God's role in our salvation?
  3. What does it mean to be “justified by His grace,” and how should that affect your daily life?
  4. In what ways are you living like an heir of the Kingdom right now?
  5. How can you reflect God’s mercy toward others this week?
