Friday First - Mutual Ministry
During June we are spending our time in Ephesians 4.1-16. It is the perfect passage to consider as we think about unity in the body. It also fits in nicely with the ongoing series we have been focusing on regarding Biblical Leaders for Today. The chapter opens with the expectation for us to live the life. We must walk in a manner worthy of our calling. Next, Paul shows us how to live the life. We walk in humility, gentleness, patience, forbearing love, and unity. All of this is built on the foundation of the Spirit, Son, and Father. And finally, in order to walk worthily, we must utilize the resources for living the life. Those resources are found in the gift you received upon your salvation and through the gifted men God has given this church.
For what did Christ give these gifts? The answer comes from Sunday’s text. Gifted men equip the saints so that the church may be built up and growth may occur. This results in our unity, knowledge, Christlikeness, embracing sound doctrine, and evangelism. It truly is a coordinated effort by all … fueled by the power of Christ.
Ephesians presents us with a comprehensive plan on how the church is to function, grow, and prosper.
Our lesson Sunday will focus on:

Our lesson Sunday will focus on:
- Ephesians 4.12a - Gifted Men Equip the Church
- Ephesians 4.12b - The Saints do the Work of Ministry
- Ephesians 4.13-15 - The 5-Fold Impact of Ministry
As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
- What is the purpose of gifted leaders in the church?
- Why do we need passionate leaders, not hirelings?
- How do leaders equip the church?
- How do you define “ministry?” What is yours?
- How does Acts 2.42-47 serve as a model for church growth?
