Friday First - He Sees Our Faith

Sin always leads to brokenness and despair. Its impact is all around. We see it in broken relationships, addiction, and secret sin. How do we cope with it? Today many ignore it or choose to relegate it to an obscure corner of their life. Others live a lie, hoping to make others believe they have things all together, while others fall prey to an addiction that began as a coping mechanism.

If you think you can handle your brokenness on your own, you are deceiving yourself. To be made whole, you need outside intervention. The only way to find peace and forgiveness is to seek it openly; move in trust in Jesus; and believe in His promise to make all things new.
On Sunday we’ll examine Mark 5.25-34 and discover a woman who pushed through her brokenness and shame; reached out to Jesus; and found the greatest peace a person can experience in this life. There’s a reason why the woman with an issue of blood is mentioned in all three of the synoptics: We have a Savior who will embrace our brokenness. His power is without limit. As Creator, He can restore and renew. He not only has that power, but He also has the desire.

In our lesson we will talk about:
  • The woman’s plight
  • The woman’s decision
  • The woman’s faith and how it was rewarded
  • What’s in this story for us.

As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
  1. How does Mark 5.25-26 describe the woman’s condition? What words describe her desperation?
  2. How determined do you believe she was to reach Jesus? (5.27-28)
  3. What happened when she touched Jesus’ garment? (5.29)
  4. How did Jesus respond when she was healed? (5.30, 32)
  5. In what condition did she leave there that day? (5.34)
