Friday First - Jesus Changes Everything
During March we’ve focused on why people follow Jesus. Much of the reason is the hope He brings. This is true today … and it certainly was during the time Jesus began His ministry. For centuries Israel had been looking for the Messiah. While many thought only in earthly terms, looking at Him as a physical conqueror, there was also a spiritually minded minority who placed their hope in Him in spiritual terms.
Truly Jesus is the hope of the world. His coming is the best news ever. He is our Savior, Messiah, and Lord.
This Sunday we’ll skip ahead into His ministry from where we’ve been over the last few weeks. We’ll look at John 5, which identifies a significant moment in his earthly ministry. In fact, it is the event that cascades into His eventual being killed by the religious establishment. Encapsulated in this story is the amazing account of one man’s journey from utter despair and hopelessness to joy beyond measure. This is a man who went from brokenness to being made whole physically and spiritually.
For this man, Jesus truly changed everything!
On Sunday we will take an in-depth look at John 5.1-14. We’ll learn about:

On Sunday we will take an in-depth look at John 5.1-14. We’ll learn about:
- How a lame man was healed.
- Why this miracle happened on the Sabbath.
- The real issue behind the man’s healing.
As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
- As you read about the miracle in John 5.5-9a, what can we learn about Jesus’ knowledge?
- What can we learn about His compassion?
- What do we see about His power?
- What was so significant about Jesus healing this man on the Sabbath?
- What two things was the man urged to do in John 5.14?
