Sometimes in an unforgiving world full of broken promises, we have difficulty fathoming that there could be a good God who is faithful to all his promises. Yet, the God of the Bible introduces us to a savior who claims to be the way, the truth and the life. Jesus gave us some amazing promises.
How committed is he to fulfilling them? Radically so. The entire point of the story of the BIble and Jesus sacrifice on the cross was to show us that he was and always will be moving to pursue us and redeem us through all of history. He is working all things for our good, and if it must be, he would even experience thirst, pain and death for us.
If Jesus' promises are true, then we can trust that his directives for our lives are ultimately leading to the realization of a final promise... a great celebration of victory for all of eternity. God promised to bring us a Messiah, a wonderful counselor, a King to reign forever... and he delivered.
In our lesson we will:
QuestionsIn our lesson we will:
- Understand how deadly serious Jesus is about his commitment to save us
- Understand the work of God through history to bring us to Jesus
- Learn how to invite Jesus to redeem our entire past, present and future
- Why did Christ say “I thirst?”
- What does it mean that God is faithful?
- What is the ‘it’ in ‘it is finished?’ What was finished?
- How is someone’s life different when they connect with God?
- What part of a person does God redeem and save?
