Friday First - Adorning the Spirit

Paul spoke, in Galatians 2.20, about surrendering to Christ. What does that mean in everyday life? The answer is found in Galatians 5.16, where the natural result of surrender is walking by the Spirit. When we walk by the Spirit our attitude will be transformed. We’ll fight against the desires of the flesh, 5.16b-17. We’ll be freed from the condemnation of the law, 5.18. We’ll reject the lusts of the flesh, 5.19-21. And finally, we’ll allow the Spirit to go to work inside our mind: producing fruit that is revealed externally, Galatians 5.22-25.

Are you adorning the Spirit?

In our lesson we will talk about:
  • A command, a conflict, and a contrast … all found in v. 16-23.
  • What happens when you walk in the Spirit, 5.22-23b.
  • How we conquest, 5.23c-25.

As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
  1. What is the command in Galatians 5.16?
  2. What is the assurance of 1 John 4.4?
  3. Who are those described in Galatians 5.19-21?
  4. What produces the fruit of the Spirit?
  5. What does it mean to keep in step with the Spirit?
