Friday First - Its Not About our Greatness
During December we focused on providence. God is working in our world, church, and life. We can see the impacts of His work all around. We need to get on board with what He is doing. During January we want to identify the proper spirit or attitude required for our congregation to be a place of healing. As God works, it is not about us. We are not in the spotlight … He is.
The first twelve chapters of Romans present Biblical doctrine on salvation by grace through faith. Because God has saved us, what should be our response? Romans 12.1-8 gives us the answer.
We respond to God with self denial (12.1-2); self surrender (12.3); and selfless service (12.4-8). Selfless service and godly attitudes toward others is the proper response to the gospel. This is what it takes to develop a place to heal.
On Sunday we will examine Romans 12.1-3. We will see how it’s never about us … it’s all about God and His glory.
We will learn more about this by seeing:

- Romans 12.1-2 - God wants your life
- Romans 12.3 - God wants you the right attitude
As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
- What does it mean to be a living sacrifice?
- What are some ways you can resist the pressure of worldliness?
- Why do you think Paul stresses the word think in Romans 12.3
- What does it mean to think sensibly?
- Why is it so hard to practice humility?
