Brought Together For a Reason
“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” 1 Corinthians 12.27
Through the month of December, we are seeing God working through his providence as a grand problem solver, placing the pieces on a puzzle board. Each piece fitting perfectly, exactly in the place it’s meant to be to complete the grand picture of complete redemption in the absolute victory of the people of God over sin and the curse.
Here at this local church that meets across from the Cornerstone development here in Dayton, Ohio, God is fitting those pieces together for his ultimate purpose. We may be one small section of the whole puzzle here at our church of about 200—but God has placed the pieces on the board in amazing ways all through 2020. We’ve seen it. God has done and will continue to do amazing things in the life of our church if we allow him to go to work. He is still moving. He is moving through us.
Not convinced? Remember Christ. Remember how he took the apostles, and invited them to fit into the puzzle where they were 2000 years ago. Remember how he took fishermen, a tax collector, a zealot, and even a murderer of Christians and gave them a new purpose—a part to play on God’s side in the eternal plan of salvation for everyone.
Look at how they touched the lives of so many and see the ripples of their faith through all of time all the way up to 2020 right where we sit today. God’s work is carrying on right here in Dayton Ohio. The faith of all those who went on before still rests in our hearts through the pages of scripture. That pattern continues with us.
We all have our own pieces that we carry with us. Through the skills we’ve gained, through the struggles we’ve overcome, and through the lessons we’ve learned we have been blessed with pieces of this puzzle given to us and blessed by God. Will we let him work in us to fill in the gaps? Even when we can’t see the picture God is putting together here in Dayton, we trust that the pieces will fit where he directs. We’ve been brought together here for a reason.
