Lesson 10 - Ten Thousand Talents
Nov 8, 2026 • Rich Walker, Hunter Davis
Jesus put numbers in this parable on purpose and this lesson makes the class do the math. A denarius was a day's wages. A talent was worth more than fifteen years of them. Work out ten thousand talents and you arrive at roughly three thousand working lifetimes, owed by a man who promised the king he would pay back everything if he were given time. Then that same man walks out the door and chokes a friend over a hundred days' wages. The parable is not about a big debt and a small one. It is about a man who never understood what had just been done for him. Bring something to write with.
