Lesson 9: Learning to Obey

"Obey" is a word that makes a lot of new Christians flinch, like a test they're afraid to fail. Lesson 9 turns that fear on its head. Jesus says, "If you love me, you will keep my commands" (John 14:15), and the order is everything: love comes first, and obedience is simply how love learns to use its hands (James 1:22). You'll meet the older brother who served for years like a hired hand and the child who obeys because he's already home, and you'll come away seeing God's commands not as a fence around your joy but as the path into it. Obedience isn't how you earn God's love. It's how you live inside it.
