Lesson 19 - Massacre of Priests and the Town of Nob
Feb 11, 2025 • Matthew Allen
When the first part of chapter 22 ends, we find David has returned to Judah and is hiding from Saul in the forest of Hereth. The exact location of this forest is unknown. When Saul heard that David had returned to Judah, he called his men together. He was extremely upset that some from his own tribe of Benjamin had deserted him and were now loyal to David. Not only do we see his displeasure with this, but we also witness a spirit of paranoia descending upon Saul. Somehow, he had concluded that Jonathan had stirred David up against him. Saul believed that David was lying in wait to strike him via an ambush. There is no evidence that Jonathan stirred up David up against Saul.
