Week 11: Wisdom for Everyday Decisions

Nov 15, 2026  •  Dru McLaughin, Jeremy Price

Most of the decisions we face never show up in a chapter and verse. There’s the job offer that means moving, the travel team that plays on Sunday morning, and the yes or no to teaching a class. Lesson 11 shows that God rarely answers questions like these with a verdict, but he does promise wisdom to anyone who asks. In Proverbs 2, a father calls his son to dig for wisdom like silver, then admits that the LORD is the one who gives it. James assures us that God gives generously and doesn’t scold us for asking, as long as we ask with a single mind. Paul tells the Ephesians to walk carefully and make the most of the time, and that keeps our choices inside the will God has already written down. Moses prays in Psalm 90 for God to teach him to number his days, because counting them was never enough to make anyone wise. The lesson ends early one morning in Capernaum. Jesus has prayed through the dark hours, and though a whole town is looking for him, he leaves because he knows what his days are for.
