The Kingdom is Open to the Unworthy
Jul 13, 2025
In Luke 4:16–30, Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth and announces that the long-awaited kingdom of God has arrived—offering good news to the poor, freedom for the captive, sight for the blind, and healing for the broken. But instead of rejoicing, the people reject Him. Why? Because the kingdom is not for the proud or self-righteous—it is for the desperate, those who know they have nothing to offer but still believe in the mercy of God. This message exposes their pride, offends their sense of entitlement, and leads them to try to kill the very One who came to save them. The kingdom is everything—but only for those humble enough to receive it.
