Where Do We Go When We Die?

Sep 14, 2025

Last week we asked, “What happens when we die?” This week we take the next step: Where do we go the moment we leave this life? The Bible gives clear answers. Paul declared, “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). Jesus told of Lazarus and the rich man, one carried to comfort and the other in torment (Luke 16:22–23). Paul assured believers that to be “away from the body” is to be “at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). Death is not the end — it is either the beginning of eternal joy or eternal regret. For the child of God, death is a homecoming into the presence of Christ. For the unbeliever, it is separation and sorrow. That’s why Scripture urges, “Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). The choices we make now will echo forever.
