The Return of Christ

This sermon points us to the hope of Christ’s return and the promise of resurrection. From 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 we are assured that those who have died in Christ will rise when the Lord descends with the trumpet of God, and from John 5:28–29 we learn that all graves will open at His command. Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 15:51–57 that the righteous will be changed, clothed with immortal and imperishable bodies, and that death itself will be swallowed up in victory through Jesus Christ. For the believer, the Lord’s return is not a day of fear but of triumph, a day when grief is replaced by joy, weakness by glory, and death by life everlasting.
