Week 4 - The Parable of the Mustard Seed

Mar 23, 2025    Matthew Allen, Matthew Ringle

We are presented with seven parables in Matthew 13, each a facet of the kingdom’s mystery. The Sower showed how God’s word takes root—or doesn’t. The Wheat and Tares grappled with evil’s presence. Now, the Mustard Seed and its twin, the Leaven, turn to growth and influence. Jesus knew the disciples’ fears and the crowd’s skepticism. His followers were fishermen, not scholars; weak, not warriors. Yet here He stood, promising that this speck of a movement—His life, His death, His handful of believers—would grow into a tree of blessing for the world. As He spoke, the seed of His words sank into hearts, ready to sprout in ways they couldn’t yet imagine.
