CT049 - When God Says Run

Apr 2, 2026    Matthew Allen

In Episode 49 of Cornerstone Today, we follow Joseph and Mary into the hardest stretch of Matthew 2 — a midnight escape, an exile in a foreign country, and a grief so heavy Matthew quotes Jeremiah to describe it. When Herod realizes the Magi aren't coming back, he orders the execution of every boy two years old and under in Bethlehem. Matthew doesn't soften it. We walk through what Joseph's immediate obedience cost him, what Matthew means when he quotes Hosea — "Out of Egypt I called my son" — and why Jesus landing in obscure little Nazareth is anything but an accident. This passage doesn't offer easy answers. But it does show us a God who is present and purposeful even in the middle of circumstances that make no sense.
