Rooted: The Whole Bible in a Year

A free video course through every book of the Bible, fifteen minutes a lesson, at your own pace.

Start any day, go at your own pace, and every lesson stays up.

What you'll have at the end

  • The whole story, from Genesis to Revelation, in your head.
  • Where every book fits and what it says.
  • The habit of opening the Bible every day.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, NASB 1995)

Start here: week 1

When you finish these five, go on to week 2 below.

How it works

260 short video lessons, 15 to 20 minutes each, five a week for 52 weeks. The course goes through the whole Bible in three passes.

Pass one: the first week

The whole story of the Bible in five days, and the map of seventeen periods you will use all year.

Pass two: weeks two through five

One period at a time, from before the flood to the letters to Christians.

Pass three: the rest of the year

Every one of the 66 books, placed on the map in the order it happened. Each book has an overview lesson, and the long books also have lessons on their sections. A review closes each period. Twelve of the Fridays are a mailbag that answers questions sent in by students.

Every lesson has the same shape

  1. Where this book sits on the map.
  2. Who wrote it, to whom and why.
  3. The book in three to five moves, with its key passages read aloud.
  4. What the book says in one sentence, and where it points to Jesus.
  5. One question for the week's sheet, and what to read before tomorrow.

Taught by [Hunter Davis, outreach minister at Cornerstone] [and others, if the church adds names]. The church walks through the course together from [Monday, December 7, 2026] to [Friday, December 3, 2027], and that is when new lessons first go up. You can start at week 1 on any day. Nothing expires. The videos read from the New American Standard Bible, 1995 edition.

Every lesson, in order

Three ways to take it

Watch

Watch the lessons in order, at your own pace.

Watch and write

Watch the lessons and send in the weekly sheet.

Watch, write and read

Watch, send the sheet and read the day's chapters before each video, which over the year is the whole Bible read through.

New Christians: ask the person who studied with you to put you on the third one.

Enroll

Anyone may enroll, at any point in the year, from anywhere. There is no cost. Everyone who finishes receives a certificate [and a letter from the elders].

Send in a sheet

The weekly sheet is one page: ten questions, most answered from the Bible itself and not only from the video, one memory verse, and one "trace it" line that connects the week's book to an earlier book and a later one. A short test closes each period.

Send your answers here, or mail your sheet to Cornerstone Church of Christ, 5051 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, Ohio 45440. A member of the church returns each sheet within a week with a word written on it.

Write the week number on the sheet and in the form.

"Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so."
