Evangelism for a Moral Society

Morality, Evangelism and Society

Morality refers to the principles or rules that govern the behavior of individuals or groups within a society. It involves distinguishing between right and wrong actions, determining what is good or bad, and providing a framework for ethical decision-making. Morality can be influenced by cultural, religious, philosophical, or personal beliefs, and it often guides individuals in their interactions with others.

About 64% of Americans call themselves Christian today. That might sound like a lot, but 50 years ago that number was 90%, according to a 2020 Pew Research Center study. That same survey said the Christian majority in the US may disappear by 2070. We are in a crisis of moral decline because our nation is also in Christian decline. Why and how did this happen? Here are my thoughts on the current societal situation.

We lost focus and our sense of duty as Christians.
The moral actions and ethical principles demonstrated by Jesus serve as a model for our behavior. Love, compassion, forgiveness, humility, and self-sacrifice are central to Christian morality based on Jesus' example. Evangelism should be motivated by a genuine concern and love for others. We as Christians are driven by a desire for the well-being of individuals, seek to share the message of salvation in the hope that others may experience the transformative power of faith in Christ as we have showed it to them. This means making deep relational connections with other people. Evangelism is not solely about conversion but also about the ongoing process of discipleship and spiritual growth. It involves nurturing new believers in their faith, helping them understand and live out the teachings of Jesus, and fostering a deeper relationship with God. We need to reinvigorate our zeal and love for the fellow man and return to traditional neighborly living. Instead of being self-absorbed and self-serving like the world is.

Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

2. We forgot the magnificence and power of the hope in The Gospel

Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

The battle is already won so what do we have to fear by sharing our victory in Christ?

1 Corinthians 15:1  Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.... 55“Death is swallowed up in victory.”  “O death, where is your victory? O death where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

It is time to be bold once again, it is time to proclaim His name once more and it's time to take our country and culture back!
