Friday First - Finish Your Race

Last Sunday we introduced our 2022 Vision Plan to the congregation. Fixing Your Eyes on Jesus will focus on maintaining the unity we’ve been given as sons and daughters of God. While much of our time will be spent on getting to know Jesus and developing an emotional connection with Him, I believe what is written in Hebrews 12.1-2 brings it all home … as the basis for everything we will preach and teach in the coming year.

Why is Hebrews 12.1-2 of such importance?
  • It details our purpose
  • It fills our hearts with confidence
  • It sets our direction or focus
  • It shows us what the life of faith looks like

On Sunday we’ll look at Hebrews 12.1-2 how we finish the race. To do so we must:
  • Run the race
  • Receive encouragement from those gone on before
  • Lay everything aside
  • Look to Jesus

As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
  1. How would you define “the race” of Christianity?
  2. What type of effort is required to effectively run the race?
  3. Who are the great cloud of witnesses mentioned by the Hebrew writer?
  4. What are some things we must lay aside in order to win?
  5. Why should we focus on Jesus while we run?
