Friday First - Providence in Our Church

During December, Cain & I have both worked from the pulpit to help us  all see and become more aware of the providence of God. Romans 8.28 - God is working all things for our good. Everything has a purpose, even though we may not see how in the moment. God is not detached or removed. He is not far away. he is right there in the middle of it all … in the same way that He has worked with His people from creation. Today, we want to look at the doctrine of providence from the standpoint of how God is working in our church.

When we speak of the church, we are talking about the body of believers that belongs to the Lord. A divinely created entity of people, both locally and universally. In this lesson we’ll look locally. How has God been working among us at Cornerstone to further His plans and purposes?

On Sunday we will learn more about what He is doing by asking:
  • For what did God design the church?
  • How is God working in our church?
  • How can you fit into what God is doing?

As you prepare for worship on Sunday, please give consideration to these questions:
  • How does 1 Timothy 1.15-16 remind us of the type of spirit we need to have as we interact with the world?
  • Why is it a good thing to see growth and change as we move through time?
  • How can Ephesians 2.11-21 teach us about God’s desire for peace and unity?
  • What does it mean to you to be a place of healing?
  • What are some ways you can get on board with what God is doing here at Cornerstone?
